Alisha Collins Joins National Grid as Director of Community Impact & Engagement: Leading ‘Grid for Good’ Initiative

National Grid is delighted to share that Alisha Collins has come on board as the inaugural Director of Community Impact & Engagement in New England. Collins will spearhead and broaden National Grid’s recently revamped ‘Grid for Good’ initiative, a company-wide corporate responsibility and social impact program that benefits communities across Massachusetts.

Melissa Lavinson, Head of Corporate Affairs for National Grid New England, expressed her excitement about Collins joining the team, citing her proven ability to establish significant and impactful corporate programs that foster positive community change. She looks forward to the expansion of the Grid for Good program under Collins’ guidance.

In her role with Grid for Good, Collins will oversee the planning and implementation of philanthropic and volunteer activities across various departments. These activities will align with three key areas of responsibility and impact: (1) workforce development and STEM education, (2) economic opportunity and social justice, and (3) environmental stewardship and sustainability. The focus will be on communities that have been historically underrepresented and overburdened.

Collins brings a wealth of experience in corporate philanthropy and development to her new role. She previously held the position of Vice President, Corporate Giving & Development at The Possible Zone, where she successfully initiated a corporate giving strategy, executed a capital campaign, and worked with partners to secure program funding.

Prior to her tenure at The Possible Zone, Collins served as Director, Corporate & Community Engagement at The Greater Boston Food Bank. Here, she showcased her leadership skills by establishing and leading a team responsible for corporate outreach, event planning, and community engagement. She was also successful in securing large, multi-year donor investments, thereby optimizing the organization’s resources.

Collins has a solid background in community relations, having worked as Manager, Community Relations at both Reebok International and Blue Cross Blue Shield of MA. Her expertise in stakeholder engagement has been key to the success of community-focused initiatives.

Collins earned her bachelor’s degree in communications from Stonehill College and a master’s of science in marketing from Lasell University. She is an active member of several advisory boards and committees, including the Women’s Network Advisory Board at the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce, the President’s Advisory Council at Stonehill College, and the Board of Advisors with the West End House Boys & Girls Club. These roles reflect her dedication to making a positive difference in the community and supporting organizations that align with her values.
