The whisky industry is evolving, challenging outdated perceptions and embracing diversity. The OurWhisky Foundation’s stock image library showcases a broad spectrum of whisky enthusiasts, breaking the traditional mold by highlighting individuals of all genders, ages, and backgrounds enjoying the spirit.
At the same time, the industry is increasingly recognizing the expertise of talented artisans, including the significant contributions of female distillers and blenders. Bacardi proudly celebrates the achievements of four accomplished women shaping its future: Stephanie Macleod, Master Blender of DEWAR'S Scotch whisky; Anne Brock, Master Distiller of BOMBAY SAPPHIRE gin; Nancy Duarte, Master Blender of SANTA TERESA rum; and Agathe Boinot, Cellar Master of D'USSÉ Cognac—who, notably, became the youngest female cellar master among the leading Cognac houses.
Stephanie Macleod's exceptional skills have earned her the prestigious title of Master Blender of the Year at the International Whisky Competition® for an impressive six consecutive years. Her story is featured in DEWAR'S "Here's to the Story" campaign, where she joins other influential figures who have left their mark on the brand’s legacy.
"Perceptions are shifting, and women now see an exciting future in the spirits industry. I take great pride in mentoring and developing the next generation of female talent," says Macleod.
Beyond celebrating established professionals, Bacardi is also committed to fostering new talent. In 2025, the company will launch two all-female cohorts of its “Shake Your Future” program in India. This initiative equips unemployed and underrepresented young adults with essential bartending skills, covering mixology, flairing, and key business aspects such as personal branding and social media.
With more women stepping into leadership roles, the industry is becoming more inclusive. According to Deloitte research, 76% of women working in beverage alcohol feel empowered to be their authentic selves at work and would encourage others to pursue careers in the field.
