Dailycsr.com – 03 November 2017 – In the month of October 2017, the CSX Corporation received the honour of “Women Executive Leadership” at “Florida annual Corporate Salute Event”. The honour was in recognition to CSX’s work in taking forward “gender diversity in corporate boardrooms”.
The “Women Executive Leadership” is a non-profit organisation which is driven by members and it aims to increase the women’s number present on “corporate boards” as well as in “executive suites” through education, encouragement and getting them in touch with “accomplished leaders”. The Chief Human Resources and Diversity Officer as well as the Vice president of CSX, Diana Sorfleet, said:
“CSX is proud to be recognized by Women Executive Leadership for our commitment to diversity at the highest levels of our company. From the boardroom and the executive team to railroaders performing essential roles across the company, we embrace and promote diversity of all types.”
Women figures present in boards and executive positions are counted through evaluation by Women Executive Leadership, whereby it analyses “Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) filings, annual reports, proxy statements and other corporate materials”. The Elevate Award of Women Executive Leadership is awarded to the companies that have included more “female executives to their board since the WEL 2014 Census”.
Furthermore, Ethical Performance added:
“CSX currently has three women on its board of directors: Donna M. Alvarado, founder and current president of Aguila International, a business-consulting firm; Pamela L. Carter, retired vice president of Cummins Inc. and president of Cummins Distribution Business; and Linda H. Riefler, director of MSCI, Inc., and former chairman of global research at Morgan Stanley”.
While, Sorfleet continued:
“CSX believes that a diverse, highly trained and skilled workforce is essential to the long-term success of our company. Through formal programs and a culture of inclusion, we demonstrate our belief that diversity is a driver of innovation, employee engagement and business success.”
