Through various events, donations, and educative measures, CVS Health commemorates Take Back Day.

Dailycsr.com – 18 May 2016 – On the 30th April 2016, the CVS Health marked the “National Prescription Drug Take Back Day”, whereby it made an announcement to inform that a donation of over five hundred “drug collection units” were under its “Medication Disposal for Safer Communities Program”. The said donation went to various “law enforcement partners” all over the United States.

As a result, “more than 35 metric tons of unwanted medication” was safely disposed off. Moreover, in order to celebrate the Take Back Day, CVS was scheduled to do the following things:
“Hosting more than 150 take back events managed by local law enforcement agencies at CVS Pharmacy locations around the country “Launching new education resources on CVS.com to help patients use and dispose of prescription medication safely “Donating 11 new drug disposal units to the Connecticut State Police through its Medication Disposal for Safer Communities Program”.

The vice president at CVS Pharmacy for “Pharmacy Professional Practices”, Tom Davis, said:
"CVS Health is committed to helping the communities we serve address and prevent prescription drug abuse. Proper disposal of unwanted prescription medication is critical to prevent abuse and we are proud to mark National Prescription Drug Take Back Day with a number of important initiatives. Taken together, our Medication Disposal for Safer Communities Program, our patient resources on CVS.com and our Take Back events are helping us advance CVS Health's purpose of helping people on their path to better health."

In an attempt to provide “a safe, convenient and responsible means to dispose of prescription drugs”, the DEA of the U.S. started the “National Prescription Drug Take Back Day”. From a very long time, CVS Pharmacy has been in support of the Take Back Day, through which the public are made more aware of “the potential for abuse of medications”.

Anyone interested in taking part in the “Drug Take Back collection” process, are invited to visit
www.dea.gov. According to a new survey polls conducted by the “CVS Health and Morning Consult”:
“...72 percent of respondents would be interested in a drug take back day in their community”.

In the words of the Chief Executive Officer and President of the “Partnership for Drug-Free Kids”, Marcia Lee Taylor:
"CVS Health's commitment to safe disposal of prescription drugs has made a meaningful contribution to preventing drug abuse in many communities across our country. We value their partnership in helping families and communities on the path to better health."
