At the recent GreenBiz25 conference, I had the honor of leading a breakout session focused on nature case studies and participating in a panel discussion on incorporating nature into corporate strategy. I shared insights on how Chemours is proactively working to strengthen ecosystem resilience across our sites while engaging with local communities.
At Chemours, our dedication to environmental protection and community well-being is a top priority. That’s why we partnered with Tandem Global (formerly the Wildlife Habitat Council) in 2024 to conduct nature and biodiversity assessments. These assessments leveraged frameworks such as the Taskforce on Nature-Related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) and guidance from the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) to evaluate our operations' nature-related dependencies, impacts, risks, and opportunities. This approach positions us to effectively report on and address key environmental challenges.
Through this collaboration, we developed a framework that aligns with our corporate vision, empowering our sites to enhance conservation efforts. A key initiative within this strategy is the Power of ChemisTREE program, which demonstrates our commitment to restoring natural habitats and supporting conservation across our operational sites and surrounding communities. This initiative includes tree planting, removing invasive species, and creating pollinator gardens—each playing a vital role in fostering environmental resilience.
By embedding nature into our business strategy and engaging employees at all levels, we are taking meaningful action to advance our long-term sustainability objectives. Our work is ongoing, and we remain dedicated to promoting ecosystem resilience and responsible environmental stewardship.
