Cummins Launches New Battery Energy Storage Solutions for Sustainable Power

04/15/2025

Cummins Inc.'s Power Generation division has introduced new Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) solutions to its global product lineup. These fully integrated AC-output BESS containers mark a major step forward in supporting customers on their journey toward sustainability.

“As the global momentum toward renewable energy continues to grow, we’re excited to enhance our portfolio with BESS solutions,” said Lucio Kroll, Senior Director of New Energy Solutions at Cummins Power Generation. “This addition aligns with the evolving energy landscape and enables us to deliver dependable, safe solutions to support our customers’ transition goals.”

The BESS offerings come in two containerized formats: a compact 10-foot container with 200 to 400kWh capacity and a larger 20-foot high-cube version ranging from 600kWh up to 2MWh. These systems feature long-lasting lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery technology, an advanced liquid cooling system for optimal thermal management and longevity, and a robust three-layer fire safety system. Each unit is self-contained and designed with plug-and-play capability, ensuring smooth transport and quick installation.

Designed for the 50Hz frequency market, these solutions are ideal for a range of applications, including remote, off-grid locations (like mining operations and rural communities), energy management needs (such as electric vehicle charging stations and institutional campuses), and critical infrastructure (like hospitals, data centers, and water treatment facilities).

With over a century of innovation in power solutions, the launch of the BESS range further solidifies Cummins' legacy in energy technology.

“Choosing Cummins means gaining access to more than just cutting-edge equipment—you’re also supported by a global network of expert service professionals,” Kroll added.
