Ericsson to provide digital skill development and education to 1M children

11/03/2022

We at Ericsson believe that having access to the internet is essential for fully participating in the digital economy and society. We are demonstrating our commitment by aiming to positively impact 1 million children and youth by 2025 through digital learning and skill development programs.

And we are making tangible progress through our digital education program, Connect To Learn, which provides teachers, students, and schools with access to digital connectivity, tools, and skills. Since our inception in 2010, we have assisted over 300,000 children and young people in 30 countries in gaining access to learning opportunities.

Today's learning crisis, highlighted this week at the UNGA77, is a global challenge that requires immediate action, and increasing access to school connectivity and related teacher and student upskilling is an important step. This problem cannot be solved by any single entity. That is why we advocate for the role of partnerships in expanding access to education and digital skills.

Our commitment to Partner2Connect and the World Economic Forum EDISON Alliance 1 Billion Lives Challenge, a global movement to catalyze multi-stakeholder digital inclusion initiatives that support education, financial inclusion, and healthcare, reflects this work.

This builds on our previous work with UNICEF and the International Telecommunication Union on the Giga initiative, which aims to connect every school worldwide to the internet by 2030.

Much more work is required to help bridge the digital divide. That is why we are urging our partners, customers, governments, and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to join the coalition required to bring about real and lasting change.
