Engineering graduates Nompilo Zulu and Sinethemba Mthembu, both from Johannesburg, South Africa, have not only carved out successful careers in the engineering field but have also become sources of inspiration to others. Here’s a glimpse of their thoughts on teamwork and innovation:

Q: What idea has had the most significant influence on your career journey?
Nompilo Zulu: The fact that my younger sister sees me as a role model in the engineering industry pushes me to excel, constantly strive for excellence, and be a positive example for her.

Q: How is your team driving innovation?
Nompilo Zulu: Our team is focused on developing an advanced tool designed to assist both us and our customers in selecting renewable energy sources to power our Accelera™ by Cummins electrolyzers, ensuring more efficient operations.

Q: How does your work contribute to more sustainable energy solutions?
Sinethemba Mthembu: Green hydrogen, produced by these electrolyzers using renewable energy, acts as a flexible energy carrier. It enables energy storage, supports industrial decarbonization, and powers various industrial applications via fuel cells. Our team's efforts help customers leverage this technology to reduce carbon emissions.

Q: What has been the most valuable lesson learned from being part of your team?
Nompilo Zulu: I've learned the crucial role of effective communication. Addressing issues or concerns early on leads to faster resolutions and smoother workflow.

Sinethemba Mthembu: Working with this team has shown me how our different backgrounds and ages create opportunities for growth. We learn from each other’s unique experiences and perspectives, and this diversity strengthens our collaboration as we work toward common goals.

Q: What do you consider the greatest wealth in your life?
Sinethemba Mthembu: I've come to realize that time is my most valuable resource. It allows me to gain experiences, achieve my goals, and build meaningful relationships. With time, I can continue to grow, innovate, and learn. It’s not about the quantity of time we have, but how we use it to fulfill our dreams and make a lasting impact.
