12/22/2023

It is with immense pride that we share our achievement of scoring a perfect 100% on the Human Rights Campaign’s Corporate Equality Index for 2023-2024. This marks our ninth consecutive year of achieving this score! The CEI is a renowned measure of how corporations are progressing in terms of LGBTQ+ friendly policies.

This score has bestowed upon us the honor of being a recipient of the “Equality 100 Award: Leader in LGBTQ+ Workplace Inclusion”. We believe in creating an inclusive environment for our employees where everyone feels valued and celebrated. For more information on how McDonald’s is driving change, please visit our website.

Our Commitment to Human Rights
At McDonald’s, we firmly believe that businesses have a duty to uphold human rights within their areas of impact. We are confident in our ability to make a positive difference in communities and inspire our partners to do the same.

We are deeply committed to respecting human rights across our value chain. This commitment is articulated in our Human Rights Policy, which is informed by the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (UNGPs), the International Bill of Human Rights, and the International Labour Organization’s (ILO) Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work.

Our Human Rights Policy was formulated through an extensive consultation process, benchmarking against industry standards, and benefiting from the guidance of external human rights experts and stakeholders.

In addition to our Human Rights Policy, we have been working diligently to reinforce our commitment to human rights by introducing new policies and updating existing ones.

We have implemented policies and guidelines to protect populations most susceptible to human rights violations. These include our Responsible and Ethical Recruitment Principles aimed at preventing the exploitation of migrant workers; updated responsible recruitment requirements outlined in our Supplier Workplace Standards and Guidance Document (SWSGD); and an updated and detailed remediation protocol in the SWSGD related to child labor, developed in consultation with external parties, including non-governmental organizations (NGOs).
