Measuring Progress & Achievements Electrolux Group Introduces ‘New Long-Term Targets’: ‘For the Better’

‘Sustainability framework’ is embedded throughout Electrolux’ operations.


Dailycsr.com – 16 April 2018 – On March 21, 2018, the Electrolux Group came out with its recent “Sustainability Report”, with the title of “For the Better” which touches upon the “facts and figures” that measure the progress as well as the achievements made by “Electrolux Group” during 2017 in the “key areas”, namely “reduced carbon emissions, improved energy and water consumption within manufacturing and products as well as increased use of recycled plastics”.
 
Moreover, the group will also be including “new long-term targets” in line with the reduction of its “carbon emissions within operations by 80% in 2025”. In this manner, the company also supports the Paris Climate Agreement. While, the President as well as the chief executive officer of Electrolux, Jonas Samuelson added:
“Sustainable development is a key element of our business model and essential to realizing our company purpose that we launched in 2017, ‘Shape living for the better’. Therefore, we are dedicated to reduce our own climate footprint and to help consumers to reduce food waste, cook healthier meals, maintain garments for longer and purify the air in their homes”.
 
The sustainability framework of Electrolux focuses on 9 main areas contributing towards “better solutions, better operations and a better society”. Following the commitments of “Better Solutions”, in 2017 Electrolux showed fifteen times increment in using “recycled plastics” in comparison to its 2011 data. The target of the company is take the usage of “recycled plastics” to “20,000 metric tons by 2020”.
 
Furthermore, Electrolux is also introduced the goal of carbon footprint reduction in the operations of its “factories, warehouses and offices” by “59%”, the figures of 2005 forms the bottom line for the said target. Moreover, the group is also in the process of revising CO2 emissions reduction “long-term goals” with the ambition of setting “science-based targets” which will be in line with COP22 agreement.
 
In fact, the Sustainability Affairs’ vice-president at Electrolux, Henrik Sundström said:
“I am proud that we during 2017 improved our overall sustainability performance within Electrolux. We also embedded the sustainability framework throughout our business as a key part of our new purpose. It is encouraging to see that Electrolux once again has been awarded as one of the world’s most sustainable companies in several rankings. It inspires us to stay focused and reinforces our commitment for a more sustainable living”.
 
While, the group also added that:
“As previously announced, the overall goal for the Electrolux Group is to reduce the CO2 emissions both through more efficient products and in operations by 50% in 2020, relative to 2005 levels. During 2017, the Group has achieved an overall CO2 reduction of 31%”.
