FedEx Cares joined forces with the Wolf River Conservancy, Clean Memphis, and the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF) for a significant project to enhance and preserve the Wolf River Greenway in Memphis on April 23, 2024. This event marked 15 years of partnership between FedEx Cares and NFWF in their shared commitment to safeguarding and revitalizing plants, fish, wildlife, and urban habitats nationwide.

Nearly 40 eager FedEx volunteers and representatives from the Wolf River Conservancy, Clean Memphis, and the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation came together for this initiative.

Jessica Tillie, Director of Airline & International, and Specialty Ops Communications, expressed her anticipation for the camaraderie and team building inherent in FedEx Cares events. She highlighted the significance of these volunteer opportunities in showcasing FedEx's dedication to improving communities in Memphis.

The volunteer teams participated in a range of activities aimed at enriching the Wolf River Greenway, including removing litter and tires, planting trees and flowers, constructing an unpaved dirt trail, and creating a floating garden.

“The Wolf River Conservancy is pleased to have partnered with FedEx Cares, Clean Memphis and the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation to cleanup and improve a stretch of the Wolf River Greenway in North Memphis,” said Erik Houston, Executive Director of the Wolf River Conservancy. “Volunteers from FedEx and Wolf River Conservancy staff removed 138 tires, 15 large bags of trash and 25 large items from valuable wetlands along with significant removal of invasive plant species. The Conservancy is grateful for the opportunity to partner with FedEx employees to make these improvements for our community.”
