08/01/2024

MetLife has a deep-rooted commitment to environmental sustainability, spanning its 156-year history. As a financial services company, we utilize our expertise to navigate various challenges, including those posed by climate change and environmental concerns. We understand that environmental issues can affect the well-being and financial security of our customers and employees, and we believe that safeguarding human health and natural resources is integral to responsible business practices.

This understanding is why we support the goals of the Paris Agreement to manage and reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. We are actively working towards achieving Net Zero GHG emissions across our global operations and General Account investment portfolio by 2050 or sooner.

We closely manage and monitor climate-related and environmental risks and opportunities, and we collaborate on initiatives that facilitate the transition to a low-carbon economy. For more details, please refer to Our Net Zero Commitment and Environmental Initiatives Progress.
