NRG Wear Pink, Power Hope: Supporting Breast Cancer Awareness and Research

12/23/2024

Every October, organizations worldwide focus on raising awareness about breast cancer screening and prevention. At NRG, we believe in the transformative power of hope and are dedicated to turning that belief into meaningful action. Our Wear Pink, Power Hope initiative was created to make a difference—not just with words, but through concrete support for those affected by breast cancer.

Whether you're a survivor, a patient, or a caregiver standing alongside someone facing a breast cancer diagnosis, everyone has a part to play in this journey. Through this campaign, we aim to channel our collective experiences into a force for positive impact.

Stories of strength and hope
At the core of Wear Pink, Power Hope are the personal stories of our team members. These heartfelt accounts reflect the courage to share experiences, the resilience to face challenges, and the hope they inspire in others walking a similar path.

One such story is that of Frank McKay, who proudly supported his wife Ginger during her recent breast cancer treatment. Their journey exemplifies the strength and unity that fuel this campaign.

United for Hope
At NRG, we know that raising awareness is only the first step. To truly make an impact on the lives of those affected by breast cancer, we’re focusing our efforts on three main objectives:

Funding Research
The fight against breast cancer requires more than just awareness—it requires funding. That’s why we’ve launched an online store offering pink NRG-branded apparel. These items not only show our support, but the proceeds from sales go to the National Breast Cancer Foundation and Breast Cancer Canada, helping to fund vital research that brings us closer to a future free of breast cancer.

Empowering Through Knowledge
Breast cancer awareness goes beyond wearing a ribbon—it’s about initiating conversations. Throughout October, we encourage all NRG employees to wear pink to work. Whether it’s a pink hard hat or discussing a colleague’s treatment experience, these conversations help reinforce the importance of early detection and community support. Together, we transform our workplaces into symbols of hope, where each pink item serves as a reminder that no one faces this fight alone.

Prevention and Support
Early detection plays a critical role in improving outcomes. To help, we’re hosting educational webinars to raise awareness about breast health, early detection, and how to approach healthcare providers with important questions. These sessions aim to empower employees to take proactive steps with their health while also providing guidance on how to support others navigating a diagnosis. Additionally, we will assemble HOPE kits with comforting items for patients undergoing treatment—small gestures that let them know they are seen and supported throughout their journey.

United for Healing
At NRG, we understand that no one should face breast cancer alone. Through our Wear Pink, Power Hope campaign, we stand together with the shared mission of contributing to the solution. By working as one, we can fuel hope for a brighter future, where breast cancer is met with resilience, solidarity, and unshakable hope.
