Prioritizing Mental Health: Tapestry’s Employee Well-Being Initiatives

06/04/2024

At Tapestry, we nurture an environment where people are both compassionate and diligent, where work is both demanding and enjoyable, and where our culture is guided by both intellect and empathy. A key aspect of our culture is creating a sense of purpose and fulfillment for our employees – we all flourish when we can bring our authentic selves to work and feel valued.

Good mental health is vital to achieving your full potential. Together with our brands Coach, Kate Spade New York, and Stuart Weitzman, Tapestry supports employee well-being throughout the year, encouraging employees to learn how to care for their own and their loved ones' emotional health. In recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month, we’re emphasizing that self-care is essential.

PROVIDING EMPLOYEES WITH TOOLS AND RESOURCES FOR WELL-BEING
Balancing deadlines, meetings, and emails can sometimes overshadow the need to take a break and recharge. To support our employees, Tapestry is dedicated to offering benefits that enhance mental well-being. For instance, counseling is available through the Employee Assistance Program, and mental health resources are provided through our parenting digital health platform and caregiver benefit programs.

Tapestry also collaborates with Headspace, a mindfulness app, to offer all employees free subscriptions. This month, Headspace is hosting Mental Health Awareness Roundtables to help associates learn how to advocate for their own and their loved ones' mental well-being. Recognizing the importance of time and flexibility for well-being, Tapestry offers up to nine wellness days per year for mental health days, doctor appointments, and more.

EMPLOYEE BUSINESS RESOURCE GROUPS FOCUS ON MENTAL HEALTH
Throughout the month, our Employee Business Resource Groups (EBRGs) have organized events and activities centered on employees. Priority You, Tapestry’s employee-led group that provides holistic wellness tools, resources, and education for all associates, placed coloring books and colored pencils in conference rooms and coffee bars in Tapestry’s U.S. offices and fulfillment centers to promote mindfulness, stress relief, and embracing imperfection. We’re encouraging teams to take breaks to color together and enjoy each other’s company!

On May 16, our LGBTQIA+ Prouder Together EBRG hosted a discussion on Transgender Youth and Mental Health, focusing on allyship to support the mental health of transgender youth. Moderated by RJ Crossley, Prouder Together EBRG lead and Stuart Weitzman Store Manager, the panel featured Kevin Wong from the Trevor Project, Salem Vazcones from the Hetrick-Martin Institute, and Dr. Vivid (Dr. Ashley Elliott), a licensed clinician and youth advocate.

KATE SPADE NEW YORK CONTINUES COMMITMENT TO MENTAL HEALTH
On Thursday, May 16, in recognition of World Mental Health Action Day, Kate Spade New York (KSNY) unveiled their 2023 global social impact report. KSNY believes that good mental health is a basic human right for all and is essential for the empowerment of women and girls. In 2021, KSNY set a four-year objective to provide 100,000 women and girls with access to mental health and empowerment resources by 2025. Today, they are proud to announce that this goal has already been achieved. You can read the report here.

Since 2020, Kate Spade has been offering Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) Certification to corporate employees, teaching them how to recognize, understand, and respond to signs of mental illness and substance abuse. Tapestry has extended this program to all its brands and is now introducing on-demand MHFA training for North America Coach and Stuart Weitzman store managers.
