Solar Highway Is A ‘Living Laboratory’

07/18/2018

The solar highway of The Ray has the potential to become a “steady revenue stream” which embraces innovation and sustainability in technology and “ground-breaking research” as oppose to traditional tolling and gas taxes.

Dailycsr.com – 18 July 2018 – Max Maxfield talks about his column on The Ray which he had titled as “Solar highway provides a guiding light to the future”, whereby describing The Ray, “an 18-mile stretch of Interstate 85 in Georgia”, which one meets when one comes to “Georgia from Alabama”. The Ray is a “testing ground” for innovation and technology that are eco-friendly.

In Maxfield’s column, he says:
“The public, private, philanthropic, partnership between The Ray, The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT), the Georgia Department of Economic Development (GDEcD), and Private Industry has resulted in this first-of-its-kind project in the United States”.

Furthermore, he added that The Ray embodies an idea of employing “state-owned facilities” to cater to a “living laboratory”. This laboratory that is termed “living” gives one the opportunity to become a business model developer, besides providing the possibilities for “testing innovative new technologies” that range from sustainability, renewable energy to highway safety related issues.

While Maxfield also about a new partnership, whereby adding:
“Well, I just heard that The Ray and the Energy Institute at the University of Texas, Austin, are going to partner to create ground-breaking research in solar energy. Through this research, the Energy Institute will analyze United States interstate shoulder, known as rights-of-way, mile-by-mile, for solar energy generation potential”.
