05/09/2023

Tetra Pak, the world-renowned packaging and processing solutions provider, has been awarded the coveted European Climate Leader 2023 title by the Financial Times. This prestigious accolade recognizes Tetra Pak's unwavering commitment to reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and its notable progress in this regard.

Out of the numerous companies evaluated by the Financial Times and Statista, only the top 500 businesses that demonstrated the most significant decrease in their GHG emissions intensity were selected for the final list. Each company was assessed based on its volume of emissions, level of transparency regarding these emissions, and the percentage reduction of emissions achieved.

Tetra Pak proudly secured its spot among the top 20% of the 500 listed companies, thanks to its impressive 54.3% absolute reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions over the past five years. This exceptional ranking further acknowledges Tetra Pak's endeavors to reduce emissions across the value chain (Scope 3). Tetra Pak regularly appears among the CDP A-listed businesses and has set net-zero targets that have been endorsed by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) along a 1.5° pathway. This is a remarkable achievement, reflecting Tetra Pak's unwavering commitment to sustainability and climate action.

“The acknowledgment is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our team, suppliers, customers and other stakeholders. While we are proud of our achievements to date, we have plans to continue mitigating our environmental impact further - by decarbonizing our value chain, driving circular solutions while contributing to food system resilience and protecting biodiversity. All these actions are core to our purpose, as we commit to making food safe and available everywhere and we promise to protect what’s good – food, people and the planet,” said Adolfo Orive, Tetra Pak’s President & CEO.
