Whirlpool Corporation has once again been recognized as a top employer for disability inclusion, achieving a perfect score of 100 on the 2024 Disability Equality Index (DEI) for the eighth year in a row. The DEI is a premier independent tool used to assess and benchmark corporate disability inclusion practices and policies annually.
Monica Cederstrom, Vice President of Human Resources for North America at Whirlpool, expressed pride in the recognition, stating, “Being acknowledged once more as a leader in workplace disability inclusion is an honor. For many years, inclusivity and accessibility have been foundational to our organization, and we remain committed to fostering an environment where our employees can thrive, challenge norms, and grow.”
Among Whirlpool’s 17 employee resource groups (ERGs) is the Awareness of Visible and Invisible Disabilities (AVID) ERG, which plays a significant role in supporting diverse perspectives within the company. AVID focuses on improving consumer understanding through product immersion activities and promotes the development of accessible features and marketing strategies.
The Disability Equality Index is a benchmarking tool that helps companies advance their inclusion practices, offering a comprehensive evaluation across five areas: Culture & Leadership, Enterprise-Wide Access, Employment Practices, Community Engagement, and Supplier Diversity. It serves as the most thorough tool available for measuring disability inclusion in the workplace among Fortune 100 companies.
