Common Impact Presents ‘COVID-19 Nonprofit Impact Report’

09/12/2020

Expertise and skills alone could restore and sustain the industry impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Dailycsr.com – 12 September 2020 – A new report, presented by Common Impact, indicate that the COVID-19 pandemic is having a staggering impact on the non-profits while the expertise and skills in the corporate sector will play a role in “restoring and sustaining” the industry.

The above mentioned report has been titled “COVID-19 Nonprofit Impact Report: A Guide for Providing Philanthropic and Skilled Volunteer Support”, which was released on August 31, 2020. According to the report, the “health centers, food banks and pantries, human service agencies” along with the education and child-care providers were the worst receiving end of this pandemic. Furthermore, it also offers an analysis and categorised recommendations of the “unique challenges” as well as the requirements needed for the “companies, individuals, and other organizations” to battle this crisis by leveraging their “unique skill sets”.

Common Impact has broadened its “leadership team” capacity in order to keep up with the increased need. As a result, it has appointed “Elizabeth Schwan-Rosenwald as Chief Program Officer and Katie Stearns as Senior Director, Partnerships”. The former is an “established leader” when it comes to “skills-based volunteering” while the latter’s area of expertise is in “corporate partnerships and volunteer engagement”.

In the words of the chief executive officer of Common Impact, Danielle Holly:
“The COVID-19 Nonprofit Impact Report outlines the state of the social sector during this double pandemic of COVID-19 and racial injustice. It highlights opportunities for companies and individuals to leverage their skills – our largest untapped philanthropic asset – to help nonprofits meet increased needs. Adding Elizabeth and Katie to the team during this time enables us to meet the growing demand from nonprofits and partner with companies to shape their social impact strategies to align with the changing needs of the current moment.”

While, Schwan-Rosenwald added:
“The potential that is unleashed when corporate and nonprofit executives work together to solve community challenges is game-changing. I see the work of Common Impact spotlighting and advancing those opportunities for impact. When we first began to see the devastating impact of COVID-19, I realized it was an urgent moment to harness the power of skilled volunteering to address the widening gaps in inequality, which aligns perfectly with Common Impact’s vision.”

And, Stearns also said:
“I am passionate about building nonprofit capacity and engaging corporate volunteers in experiences that transform both individuals and their communities, and – as our COVID-19 report demonstrates – that work is especially important right now as we continue to navigate the pandemic and actively work toward anti-racism”.
