Dailycsr.com – 24 July 2020 – The BSR Conference 2020 has opened up its registration process while it is scheduled to happen live from October 20, 2020 to October 23, 2020. The event will bring together the community for a “common task” amid the ongoing “tremendous uncertainty and turbulence”. The task would be to come out with solutions addressing the current problems and at the same time to lay groundwork towards a “truly equitable, resilient and just future for all”.
According to BSR’s newsletter:
“BSR20 will build on the growing momentum our members and partners have achieved together over the last decade, while delving deep into the considerable work ahead of us”.
This year theme for BSR20 is “Meet the Moment. Build the Future.” Over the three days of the meet “substantive and actionable discussions” are expected to take place given the “urgent need” at hand of the “unprecedented economic and public health challenges caused by the COVID-19 pandemic”. Moreover, the current situation has also held a mirror in front of us showing us the “systemic barriers and racial injustice” still plaguing the society.
Corporate sector has made “encouraging” efforts to strengthen the “public health” sector, to facilitate “immediate relief” for people who lost their jobs due to the pandemic crisis and to capitalise on the “truly diverse and inclusive workplaces and equitable economic opportunity”. However, it is important to sustain towards “long-term goals” of transitioning to “net-zero carbon” and achieving the SDGs agenda. While, BSR20 seeks to “highlight how companies have shifted into high gear, and what we must do to ensure these efforts are strengthened and taken to scale”.
Even though, meeting in person will be missed, but BSR20 expressed its excitement towards shifting on to a “digital, virtual experience” for connecting to the global community and in the process bringing “new voices to the fore” and getting into “new partnerships and initiatives”. In its newsletter, BSR added:
“Our virtual event gives us the added benefit of convening a truly global conversation, spanning multiple time zones and regions, and delivered via broadcast-quality streaming video which will be recorded and available on demand to registered participants for a full year.
