Empowering Youth with TCS goIT Monthly Challenge for STEM & SDG Innovation
Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), a global leader in IT services, consulting, and business solutions, has expanded the scope of its flagship STEM education initiative, the goIT Monthly Challenge. This program, open to students under 18, invites participation through the Go Innovate Together (goIT) platform in collaboration with business, industry, and NGO partners.
These partners join TCS in promoting awareness of specific Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that align with their missions. Together, they create educational videos to inform students about the monthly challenge and its focus. With this expanded approach, students now have the flexibility to address challenges meaningful to them or their communities year-round, rather than adhering to predefined themes. Participants can compete monthly for recognition and later vie for the prestigious title of "goIT Global Innovator of the Year."
The goIT program, a free digital innovation and career-readiness initiative, aims to close the skills gap in STEM fields and spark youth interest in technology. Through training sessions led by TCS and industry experts, students explore topics such as mobile app development, microprocessors, IoT, artificial intelligence, and machine learning. The program also emphasizes human and environmental sustainability by encouraging projects aligned with the United Nations’ 2030 SDGs.
The goIT Monthly Challenge motivates students to design and propose digital innovations that drive positive global change. Each submission must address one of the SDGs, which focus on eradicating poverty and inequality, protecting the environment, and fostering health, justice, and prosperity. Submissions are evaluated by professionals from TCS, its partners, and clients. Participants, whether individuals or teams, compete virtually for prizes, mentorship, and recognition.
For the January 2025 challenge, entries are due by January 31, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. in the entrant's local time. Future monthly challenges will follow the same deadline format, with submissions due on the last day of each respective month.
