Enhancing Hand Hygiene in Healthcare: Tork's Innovative Solutions and Training
Tork, a brand under Essity, proudly joined in World Hand Hygiene Day on May 5th, an initiative by the World Health Organization (WHO) aimed at emphasizing the significance of hand hygiene in healthcare and fostering global support for its improvement. As the leading professional hygiene brand globally, Tork is committed to backing World Hand Hygiene Day through its range of hygiene products and training solutions tailored for healthcare settings. Additionally, Tork has recently pledged to enhance hygiene inclusivity in public restrooms, ensuring everyone can maintain proper hygiene, including hand hygiene.

The foundation of safe healthcare lies in effective hand hygiene. Healthcare professionals encounter pathogens frequently in their daily routines, whether through patient contact or interaction with surfaces like doorknobs and bedrails. Despite the widespread understanding of its importance, adhering to hand hygiene best practices can be challenging, necessitating accessible and sustainable hygiene procedures.

Research indicates that around 80% of healthcare professionals are eager to enhance their hand hygiene practices at work. To address this need, Tork offers engaging learning experiences and interactive education opportunities to bridge the knowledge gap and uphold hand hygiene standards. Consistent, hands-on training is vital in improving hand hygiene practices, especially in the fast-paced healthcare environment where adherence can be difficult to maintain.

Tork provides support through its Clean Hands training and hand sanitizing systems, including Virtual Reality (VR) Clean Hands Training and Education. This innovative approach enhances engagement and effectiveness by simulating real-world scenarios, resulting in deeper learning and behavioral changes. Tork's immersive trainings aid healthcare professionals in implementing hygiene practices effectively and improving adherence across the WHO's 5 moments of hand hygiene, ultimately enhancing patient safety and bridging the knowledge gap.

“Sharing hand hygiene knowledge is important because hand hygiene is one of the most effective ways to keep people safe from infection, help people understand when and how to perform hand hygiene, and achieve public health targets in a cost-effective way. When the 65 million healthcare workers around the globe train and act on hand hygiene, they help save lives – yours, a loved one’s and those most vulnerable in society,” said Dr. Claire Kilpatrick, Director, KSHealthcare Consulting.
