Entergy New Orleans Partners for Back-to-School Supply Giveaway, Supporting Local Families

08/27/2024

Entergy New Orleans collaborated with the New Orleans Women’s and Children’s Shelter for a back-to-school supply giveaway. The event offered families a day full of fun activities, learning opportunities, and community bonding. Students received backpacks stocked with essential school supplies, such as lunchboxes, notebooks, binders, and more.

“It’s always heartwarming to see the joy on the children’s faces during these events,” said Nyka Scott, Vice President of Customer Service at Entergy New Orleans. “We are committed to giving back to the communities we serve, and events like this allow us to make a real difference by ensuring our children have the resources and support they need to thrive both in school and beyond.”

The event also helped the residents of the Women’s and Children’s Shelter get ready for the upcoming school year. The New Orleans Public Library was present to sign up parents and children for library cards, providing them access to a wide range of resources at local branches. Adding to the excitement, Entergy New Orleans brought a bucket truck, giving participants a hands-on experience in exploring the field of electrical engineering.

“This event means so much to our families,” said Dawn Bradley-Fletcher, CEO of the New Orleans Women & Children’s Shelter. “The support from the community and partners like Entergy New Orleans has a profound impact on the women and children we serve. It’s not just about the school supplies; it’s about showing them that the community cares and that they are not alone.”

As the new school year approaches, this event serves as a reminder of the importance of community connection and the strength that comes from working together. Entergy New Orleans is eager to continue its partnership with the New Orleans Women’s and Children’s Shelter and remain committed to serving the community.
