Georgia-Pacific and Convoy of Hope Provide Crucial Relief After Hurricane Beryl
In July, when Hurricane Beryl swept through eastern Texas, many communities, including Corrigan and Camden—where Georgia-Pacific operates lumber and plywood facilities—found themselves without power or water. Following the storm, these facilities, along with local supermarkets and gas stations, were forced to close, leaving over 1,500 workers and residents struggling for essentials.

To address this, Georgia-Pacific quickly collaborated with Convoy of Hope, a long-time partner, to facilitate relief efforts. They connected Convoy of Hope with the mayor’s office in Corrigan, resulting in a delivery of non-perishable food, water, and other necessities the next day. Upon arrival, Georgia-Pacific staff, city employees, and volunteers worked together to distribute these supplies to more than 500 residents in the Corrigan-Camden area.

This response highlighted the effective partnership between Georgia-Pacific and Convoy of Hope. The company frequently contributes products to assist in disaster relief worldwide, from hurricanes in Texas to wildfires in Hawaii and conflicts in Gaza.

Ethan Forhetz, Convoy of Hope’s vice president of public engagement, expressed gratitude for Georgia-Pacific's support, stating that such partnerships enhance their ability to serve those in need. Since 2008, Georgia-Pacific has donated over $11 million in products to Convoy of Hope, including hygiene items and building materials.

Recently, the Broadway facility in Green Bay, Wisconsin, donated 120 pallets—over 5,700 packages—of paper towels to Convoy of Hope. This contribution, along with another donation from the Brawny® brand, led to a record 204,442 pounds of Brawny® products donated in 2024, equating to 190,080 rolls of paper towels, or around 22 truckloads. In turn, Convoy of Hope was able to support the Georgia-Pacific community in Corrigan and Camden.

“Convoy of Hope is on pace to respond to a record number of disasters this year, including Hurricane Beryl, and we couldn’t do it without the generosity and support of Georgia-Pacific,” Ethan said. “They are helping Convoy of Hope deliver hope to survivors of the storm.”
