Jorge Alvarez: Leading Innovation for Good at Kohler
Jorge Alvarez has spent a decade working in six different roles across two countries, driven by his unwavering desire to make a positive impact on the world. He is currently spearheading innovation at Kohler, where he is in charge of new product development for their in-house startup, Innovation for Good. This initiative focuses on creating products and solutions that address global social and environmental challenges.
Alvarez’s role aligns perfectly with his personal values. “I am deeply committed to helping others, both professionally and personally,” he says. “I strive to make a difference that extends beyond myself, and I am fortunate to be able to do so through my work.”
Originally from Mexico, Alvarez started his journey with Kohler as an engineer at their Reynosa facility. Here, he successfully completed their fast-track leadership development program. His career took a significant turn when he decided to relocate to Kohler, Wisconsin. His unique combination of manufacturing operations and new product development experience opened up a plethora of opportunities for him. Alvarez continued to broaden his skillset and gain valuable experience before stepping into his current role as the New Product Development Program Manager for Innovation for Good.
In his current role, Alvarez collaborates with a diverse global team spanning various industries, countries, and cultures. Together, they work on developing innovative solutions that aid underprivileged communities in enhancing hygiene, sanitation, and access to clean water. Their efforts are bearing fruit. Alvarez and his team were recently honored with Kohler’s New Product Development “Believing in Better” Award for their impactful work that continues to transform lives worldwide.
