Lenovo’s Love on Month of Service: Empowering Communities Through Global Volunteering

01/20/2025

For the eighth year in a row, Lenovo employees have expanded the impact of Lenovo’s Love on Month of Service, a global volunteering initiative. In 2024, the program reached nearly 68,000 beneficiaries, reflecting a 44% increase from the previous year. This growth resulted from a diverse range of volunteer activities, including providing tech access to individuals with disabilities in Tokyo, supporting wetland sustainability in Bengaluru, conducting educational workshops on tech and sustainability in Paris, and refurbishing computers in Raleigh/Durham.

Over 140 projects were carried out worldwide, contributing to Lenovo’s global corporate citizenship, ESG objectives, and the Lenovo Foundation’s mission to empower underrepresented communities with technology and STEM education.

The grassroots-driven initiative motivates employees to design and lead volunteer projects that involve their colleagues in making a difference in local communities. In 2024, more than 100 project leaders took part, partnering with local non-profits, engaging offices in volunteer efforts, and creating meaningful impact across Lenovo’s global presence.

Each year, project leaders—guided by Lenovo’s global corporate citizenship team—collaborate to expand the program in at least one key area, whether it’s the number of volunteers, volunteer hours, participating offices, or beneficiaries. Since its launch in 2017, the program has seen continuous growth.

In 2024, the initiative reached a new milestone, impacting nearly 68,000 individuals. A total of 3,700 Lenovo employees contributed over 16,000 service hours across 62 offices worldwide.
Calvin Crosslin, President of the Lenovo Foundation, commented, “This year has been remarkable for giving back to our communities through our corporate philanthropy flagship initiative. Each year, the scope of our projects grows, addressing educational and technological needs, supporting children’s well-being, empowering underrepresented populations, and assisting people with disabilities. Our goal is to empower communities and inspire the next generation of thinkers, creators, and leaders. Together, we are on track to impact 15 million lives by 2025.”

Beyond supporting global corporate citizenship, Love on Month of Service (an anagram of Lenovo, designed to highlight employee involvement) also emphasizes Lenovo’s commitment to Diversity & Inclusion (D&I). Studies show that volunteerism enhances corporate culture by improving mental health, skill development, employee retention, and attracting new talent. Employee engagement is a key benefit of the program. Survey data from the event revealed that 92% of volunteers felt pride in working for a company that supports volunteerism, while 78% said their volunteer efforts positively impacted the community’s perception of Lenovo. Nearly 80% of participants reported feeling more connected to their global colleagues through the event.

The Lenovo Foundation team extends its heartfelt thanks to all the project leaders and volunteers, especially the executives who supported the initiative by volunteering alongside their colleagues throughout September.

Since its inception in 2017, Love on Month of Service has impacted over 380,000 individuals globally, based on conservative direct impact estimates from Lenovo’s global corporate citizenship team. This ongoing commitment highlights the company’s dedication to giving back and reinforces its reputation as a force for positive change.
