Whole Foods Market suppliers are providing economic opportunities to microentrepreneurs, primarily women. These generous brands provide microloans to low-income entrepreneurs so they can start or expand a small, often home-based business. An entrepreneur can purchase essential needs for their small businesses, such as products for a food stand, sewing equipment, or tools for a small-scale farm, with a small loan of around $200. Profits from their microbusinesses allow these entrepreneurs to lift themselves and their families out of poverty, one loan at a time.
In March, we will be honoring women's economic achievements.
Every year in March, during Women's History Month, we celebrate the economic achievements of our female microcredit clients. Supporting brands are invited to contribute to the success of our mission by funding additional microloans. Members of the Whole Planet Foundation's Poverty Is Unnecessary Fund are brands that donate $25,000 in March to fund microcredit. So Delicious, Lundberg Family Farms, MaryRuth's, Schmidt's, and SheaMoisture are among the generous donors this month.
So Delicious
So Delicious has been committed to funding opportunity through Whole Planet Foundation since 2015. As a repeat donor, their $50,000 contribution this year will help fund an additional 270 microloans for low-income entrepreneurs. Low-income entrepreneurs can use a small microloan to start or expand a business, often at home, to support themselves and their families.
“So Delicious Dairy Free is on a mission to show what’s possible when everyone has an equal seat at the table. This means advocating for a more inclusive economy and creating economic opportunities for marginalized communities. We are proud to support Whole Planet Foundation and their mission to alleviate global poverty through microfinance”, says Virginia Kelly, VP of Marketing for So Delicious Dairy Free.
