SCS Global Services Approved for Proposition 12 Certification: Enhancing Farm Animal Welfare in California

SCS Global Services (SCS), renowned for its leadership in third-party food and agriculture certifications and standards development, has proudly announced its approval by the California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) to administer Proposition 12 Certification. Proposition 12, also known as the Farm Animal Confinement Initiative, sets forth essential guidelines to enhance the living conditions of farm animals across California. 

Effective immediately, all producers of egg-laying hens, breeding pigs, and/or veal calves, as well as distributors of covered products intended for sale in California, must hold a valid certificate of compliance. This certification confirms that animals are housed under conditions prioritizing their welfare, including provisions for freedom of movement, cage-free environments, and sufficient floor space.
