Rockwell Automation Enhances Sustainability for Global Cement Producer with Advanced Digital Solutions
Fueled by a new major sustainability initiative, Rockwell Automation's model predictive control solution is aiding a leading global cement producer in advancing process digitalization.
Compagnie des Ciments Belges SA (CCB), which is part of the Cementir Holding group—an international building solutions company and global leader in white cement—is re-evaluating its operations to enhance sustainability. The company has set an ambitious goal to cut CO2 emissions significantly by 2030. This decade-long plan involves substituting fossil fuels, developing a new low-carbon cement, investing in sustainable practices, and digitizing processes related to manufacturing, maintenance, inventory, and spare parts across all its plants.
Over two months, the Rockwell-installed solution at two cement mills achieved a 6% reduction in energy consumption, surpassing the 3% target, and boosted production rates by nearly 8.5%, exceeding the 3% target.
