Blissful Seeds, a non-profit organization from San Diego, is set to open its first retail store at Regency’s Twin Peaks in Poway, California, following years of selling at local farmer's markets. This nonprofit is dedicated to supporting individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) by offering employment and entrepreneurship opportunities. Their mission includes providing job coaching, work skills training, and career development to help individuals with ASD achieve fulfilling lives.
The initiative was founded by Rita Nasrallah, inspired by her personal experience after her son was diagnosed with autism in 2012. She understood the employment challenges faced by the ASD community and decided to create a business that offers meaningful work opportunities for adults with autism, similar to how schools create tailored learning programs for children with autism.
"As parents, we all wish for our children to be happy and successful, regardless of their needs," said Rita Sabita Nasrallah, Founder. "Having a child with autism has shown me that different abilities are not a barrier but a path to thriving."
The new Blissful Seeds store will function as an art gallery and studio, showcasing and selling crafts made by individuals with autism. The inventory includes all-natural bath bombs, candles, soaps, and resin art, highlighting the unique talents of their creators. The product range will continue to grow as more individuals with developmental disabilities join the organization.
Parker Rosen, Leasing Representative, expressed excitement about the opening: "This is not only a unique use of retail space but a first for Regency’s Southern California locations. Blissful Seeds is a testament to entrepreneurial spirit, and we're proud to support their mission of empowering young adults with disabilities through employment and entrepreneurship."
Blissful Seeds is scheduled to open at Twin Peaks in September 2023, joining other retailers such as Amazon Fresh, Target, and CorePower Yoga.
