Here are some reworded highlights from Qualcomm's 2022 CSR Report:
- We maintained our collaboration with the National Center for Women & Information Technology (NCWIT) as an investment-level partner. Together, we aimed to promote gender diversity in technology and computing. As part of this, we actively engaged in Technolochicas, a national initiative led by NCWIT. In addition, we proudly introduced our own Technolochica, utilizing inspiring stories of diverse Latinas in technology fields to raise awareness among young Latinas and their families about the exciting opportunities and careers in the tech industry. Our Technolochica will not only support our commitment to hiring diverse candidates but also serve as a role model for future generations of Latina technologists.
- We celebrated our fourth year as a member of the Reboot Representation Tech Coalition, demonstrating ongoing support for their mission to close the gender gap for underrepresented women of color in tech. Alongside other coalition members, we actively contribute to developing inclusive solutions that prioritize the participation of Black, LatinX, and Native American women in technology and STEM fields. These solutions involve creating a pipeline that starts from K-12 schools and extends to colleges and graduate institutions, ensuring that young women from underrepresented communities acquire the necessary skills to pursue successful careers in the tech industry. Additionally, we enthusiastically participated in Reboot's inaugural mentorship program, which aimed to connect Black, Latina, and Native American women undergraduates in computing with relatable role models.
- We maintained our partnership as an Inclusion Works Partner with Disability:IN, a prominent nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting disability inclusion in the business sector worldwide. Our collaboration involved actively engaging in speaking engagements for global audiences and implementing recommended best practices within our workplace. In 2022, our CEO demonstrated commitment to disability inclusion by signing Disability:IN's CEO Letter on Disability Inclusion, serving as a positive example for CEOs and organizations globally. We also received recognition as a Disability Equality Index® Top Scorer and Best Place to Work for Disability Inclusion for the eighth consecutive year.
- As part of our ongoing commitment to supporting racial justice in the United States, we organized the Racial Justice Giving Initiative (RJGI), which encouraged collaboration with our employees. Through this initiative, employees were given the opportunity to nominate nonprofit organizations working towards driving systemic change in racial justice and equity. The RJGI Committee evaluated the nominations based on predetermined criteria and selected organizations to participate. In addition to funding from the Qualcomm Foundation and the DEI team, the initiative culminated in a TED Talk-style event for all employees, during which the selected organizations presented about their impactful work.
In 2022, the recipients of the RJGI included ACLU Foundation of San Diego & Imperial Counties, Center for Effective Public Policy, Creating Coding Careers, Friends in Need Children's Center, Inc., Front Porch Arts Collective of Boston, Girls Inc. of San Diego County, Greater Than Tech, La Maestra Family Clinic, Inc., Motus Theatre, and RISE San Diego.
