Georgia-Pacific's Commitment to Ending Domestic Violence: Impactful Community Support
At Georgia-Pacific, our commitment revolves around prioritizing people and the communities we serve. Through our Social Stewardship framework, we aim to foster stronger communities and positively impact lives. Central to this effort are partnerships with community and nonprofit organizations that directly tackle society’s most pressing issues. We actively seek input from volunteers, academics, first responders, and government officials to effectively utilize our resources for maximum societal benefit.
For over 17 years, Georgia-Pacific has collaborated with The Women’s Resource Center to End Domestic Violence (WRCDV). Based in DeKalb County, Georgia, and serving metro Atlanta, the Center strives to eliminate domestic violence and supports women and children affected by it. Their comprehensive services include a domestic violence hotline, legal advocacy, safety planning, financial assistance, supervised child exchange, transitional housing, and educational campaigns.
Each year, WRCDV aids over 5,000 women and children, offering critical support and programs such as Camp PEACE, a summer initiative focused on children impacted by domestic violence. Georgia-Pacific has contributed $220,000 in funding, numerous employee volunteer hours, and has actively participated on the board for almost a decade. In recognition of our sustained support, WRCDV honored Georgia-Pacific at its annual Champions for Change Event in May 2024, presenting us with the Honorable Clarence Seeliger Champion for Change award.
