Other communities in Texas, including Lufkin, Diboll, Fuller Springs, and Hudson in Angelina County, received a total of $77,000 from Georgia-Pacific for initiatives such as repairing gas detectors used in residential and industrial facilities during fire emergencies.
In Michigan, the Owosso Fire Department, the only full-time fire department serving the entire county, acquired a new thermal imaging camera. This device allows firefighters to see through smoke-filled environments, plan and execute search operations for potential victims, and locate hidden fires within floors, ceilings, and walls, thereby improving their firefighting capabilities.
The Big Island Volunteer Fire Company in Big Island, Virginia, also received assistance from Georgia-Pacific. A donation of $163,000 enabled the city to purchase and construct a new fire truck, which is expected to be delivered in two years.
