Ford Bags WEC’s Prestigious ‘Gold Medal Award’ In Sustainability
Dailycsr.com – 10 November 2020 – The “World Environment Center”, in short known as WEC, has made an announcement to reveal that its “36th annual Gold Medal for International Corporate Achievement in Sustainable Development” award will go to Ford Motor Company. While Jim Farley, president as well as the C.E.O of Ford Motor Company, has accepted the “Gold Medal Award” for their “outstanding work” under the sustainability category.
The awardee was selected by a “independent Gold Medal Jury” through a global competition, whereby Ford stood out for three of its commitments: towards “transforming its culture and innovating across the business”; reducing CO2 emissions from its facilities as well as vehicles and “a global carbon reduction strategy”.
The ex-vice president of Sustainable Development at the World Bank, Chair Katherine Sierra was chaired the above mentioned jury, whereby summarising the Gold Medal Jury’s decision, Sierra stated:
“On behalf of the independent Jury members, I extend my sincere congratulations to Ford Motor Company for its thoughtful approach to sustainability and social impact. Ford demonstrates its strong commitment to sustainability across its organization, to its customers through innovative products, technologies, and solutions.”
While, acknowledging the prestigious award, the chief executive officer of Ford, Jim Farley said:
“we are honored to accept this year’s Gold Medal award. Under Bill Ford’s leadership for more than 20 years, we are proud of our progress to make sustainability a core part of our business, including supporting and incentivizing the production of electrified products, and creating regulatory certainty that benefits the environment, reduces costs to customers and aims to help us reach our goal of being carbon neutral globally by 2050.”
Furthermore, the president as well as the chief executive of the WEC, Glenn Prickett added:
“the World Environment Center congratulates Ford on its Gold Medal Award and looks forward to its continuing leadership to strengthen business performance and create a better society.”
Given the ongoing pandemic, WEC has decided to hold a “virtual presentation in December 2020” instead of the “annual dinner & award presentation” event.
