Auto Club Group & Arbor Day Foundation Partner for National Tree Planting Initiatives

07/04/2024

The Auto Club Group (ACG) and the Arbor Day Foundation have teamed up to support diverse tree planting initiatives across the U.S. These initiatives encompass large-scale reforestation in national, state, and other public and private forests, as well as community forestry projects in cities like Chicago and Detroit.

ACG, the second largest and fastest-growing AAA club in North America, serves over 13 million members in 14 states and two U.S. territories. Through this partnership, they aim to plant 50,000 trees within their operational area, enhancing environmental stewardship in the communities they serve. These reforestation efforts target ecosystem restoration in areas affected by natural disasters, diseases, and deforestation. The urban forestry projects aim to mitigate local issues such as poor air quality and the urban heat island effect by leveraging trees' natural ability to sequester carbon, reduce pollution, and provide cooling shade.

Dan Lambe, CEO of the Arbor Day Foundation, expressed excitement about the collaboration, stating, "Our mission is to inspire people to plant, nurture, and celebrate trees. Partnering with ACG, which supports all aspects of our mission, is truly inspiring. Whether in forests, cities, or backyards, planting the right tree at the right time in the right place is crucial to our work. We are thrilled to partner with ACG to make a significant impact through these projects."

The Arbor Day Foundation has facilitated the planting of over 500 million trees worldwide through a global network of partnerships. Their goal is to plant another 500 million trees by June 2027 in the areas that need them the most.

This partnership highlights ACG's dedication to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) values and the importance of sustainability. Ken Mathies, Vice President and Chief Diversity Officer of DEI and Sustainability for ACG, remarked, "We are proud to partner with the Arbor Day Foundation to enhance green spaces and promote environmental stewardship. This collaboration underscores our commitment to a healthier, more sustainable future for generations to come."

Additionally, ACG is providing Arbor Day Foundation memberships to 500 of its employees, offering them access to tree education resources, updates on forestry projects, and 10 native tree seedlings tailored to their local climate.
