Principal Financial Group Earns Top Spot for Disability Inclusion with Perfect DEI Score
Principal Financial Group has been recognized on the "Best Places to Work for People with Disabilities" list, achieving a perfect score of 100 on the 2024 Disability Equality Index® (DEI). This index is the most comprehensive tool globally for assessing disability workplace inclusion.

The 2024 DEI evaluation assessed companies across various categories, including Culture & Leadership; Enterprise-Wide Access; Employment Practices such as benefits, recruitment, hiring, education, retention, advancement, and accommodations; Community Engagement; and Supplier Diversity. Principal has consistently scored a perfect 100 for five consecutive years.

Miriam Lewis, Chief Inclusion Officer at Principal, commented, “Our employees are our greatest asset. We are dedicated to eliminating obstacles and providing what is necessary for everyone to succeed, ensuring that each employee feels appreciated and can contribute positively to our culture and business results. Our company thrives when we embrace a broad range of perspectives by promoting accessibility and belonging.”

The DEI, launched in 2015, is a collaborative effort between the American Association of People with Disabilities (AAPD), the largest disability rights organization in the U.S., and Disability:IN, a global network for business disability inclusion. Its goal is to help businesses improve their impact on the employment and underemployment of individuals with disabilities.

Jill Houghton, President and CEO of Disability:IN, stated, “On the 10th anniversary of the Disability Equality Index, we are proud of the 542 companies globally that are leading the way in advancing disability inclusion. Their commitment not only attracts top talent but also fosters innovation and sustainable performance in the global market. We are working towards a future where everyone can contribute and succeed.”
