07/18/2016

Caterpillar’s attempt of cutting down on wastages has other benefits too.

Dailycsr.com – 18 July 2016 – On Thursday, the 14th of July 2016, Caterpillar reported that its attempt of improving efficiency in its processes, solutions, products and services has also provided costs benefits whereby the company has managed to cut down on its consumption of energy, land, water and materials.

As the year of 2013 began, Caterpillar switched over its attention to a focused goal of reducing “all by-product materials” besides minimizing wastage in comparison to its previous stance of recycling only a designated percentage.

Keeping in line with the “waste minimization goal” of Caterpillar, the company is now using less material in whichever areas possible. Likewise, the reduction projects include the “paint process” at Caterpillar’s various “excavator facilities” like Japan, China and Xuzhou. The company has cut down on the application of “atop” paint coat, whereby keeping in mind that the benefits do not outweighs “the costs and waste of providing it”.

In this manner, Caterpillar has managed to save an approximate amount of “$3.8 million” on an annual basis, besides slashing down the consumption of “tens of thousands of liters of paint”, while forty percent of the same used to get wastage during the process of over-spraying.
