- Donating more than 600 million doses of an antibiotic for the treatment of trachoma, the world’s leading infectious cause of blindness, since a partnership with the International Trachoma Initiative (ITI) was formed in 1998. Besides, the above mentioned achievements of Pfizer, the company has also bettered its position in the “Access to Medicine Index” whereby moving from the top sixteenth position acquired in the year of 2014 to the top fourteenth position in the year of 2016. Talking about the performance, Pfizer also added:
“Several factors contributed to our higher score, including structured donation programs, nearly doubling the size of our pipeline through research and development efforts, widespread enhancements of pricing, manufacturing and distribution efforts and strengthening our approach to building supply chains”.
