By collaborating with other forward-thinking organizations, Griffith Foods is taking proactive steps to align with the latest climate science recommendations and contribute to the global effort of limiting temperature rise to 1.5°C.
The company is utilizing the resources and guidance offered by SBTi to overcome challenges and promote the widespread adoption of these targets. Furthermore, Griffith Foods' near-term carbon reduction targets have undergone independent assessment and approval by the SBTi, ensuring the credibility and transparency of their endeavors. Kim Frankovich, Global Vice President of Sustainability, emphasizes the importance of addressing emissions in the food supply system, which accounts for over one third of global emissions.
TC Chatterjee, Chief Executive Officer, expresses the company's commitment to transforming sourcing practices and integrating sustainable system design into product development processes. By acquiring new capabilities and fostering collaboration worldwide, Griffith Foods aims to contribute to the goal of halving global emissions by 2030 and achieving net zero emissions by 2050. Together, they strive to establish sustainable food system networks that restore nature and enhance livelihoods. Griffith Foods' SBTi-approved near-term targets include a 50% reduction in absolute scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by fiscal year 2030, based on a fiscal year 2020 baseline, as well as a 23% reduction in scope 3 GHG emissions per ton of product produced by fiscal year 2030, also based on a fiscal year 2020 baseline. The company will soon provide updates on their climate progress for 2022, along with advancements in Sustainable Sourcing, Health and Nutrition, and Wellbeing and Fulfillment.
