Entergy Employees Pack 250,000 Meals to Fight Hunger on MLK Day
To honor Martin Luther King Jr. Day, over 230 Entergy employees and community partners from Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas joined forces to assemble more than 250,000 meals for families struggling with food insecurity. Entergy has long encouraged its employees to make a difference through volunteer efforts, and for over 20 years, the company has been committed to addressing hunger.

This year, Entergy partnered with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana, as well as Healthy Blue and Louisiana Blue, to organize meal-packing events at 10 locations within its service areas. According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, food insecurity affects more than 47 million people in the United States, including one in five children. This initiative not only allowed Entergy to support local families, neighbors, and customers but also contributed to the broader fight against hunger.

“Entergy is honored to celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King’s legacy by working alongside our partners to combat hunger in the communities we serve,” said Patty Riddlebarger, vice president of corporate social responsibility at Entergy. “For more than two decades, poverty reduction has been a core focus of our company, and we recognize that many families face challenges in accessing nutritious food. Through this MLK Day of Service, our employees are helping to alleviate that burden.”

The Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service aligns with Entergy’s dedication to creating lasting value in communities through volunteer work and philanthropy. By actively giving back, the company upholds King’s teachings, striving to address social challenges, promote equality, and uplift those in need. Entergy encourages its employees to continue working together to drive positive change and develop impactful solutions.
