The Duke Energy Foundation has allocated an additional $350,000 to support Florida-based nonprofit organizations as part of its ongoing efforts to aid in Hurricane Milton recovery, disaster preparedness, and relief initiatives. More than a month has passed since Hurricane Milton, a Category 3 storm, struck on October 9, and the company continues its dedication to helping communities rebuild.
“This hurricane season has been incredibly challenging for many Floridians,” stated Melissa Seixas, Duke Energy Florida's state president. “We stand with our customers to restore and strengthen communities across Florida in the aftermath of Hurricane Milton. By collaborating with committed nonprofit partners, we are able to provide essential services, resources, and programs that facilitate recovery for those affected.”
Before the hurricane's arrival, the Duke Energy Foundation contributed $50,000 to the American Red Cross to ensure a swift delivery of emergency supplies to impacted areas.
An additional $300,000 has been distributed among 22 local organizations throughout the Gulf Coast and Central Florida. These grants are aimed at supporting initiatives such as food security, replacing essential items, financial aid for college students, and assistance with other unexpected household expenses.
