Recycled Building Materials: Reducing Emissions & Revitalizing Communities

09/26/2024

Recycled building materials, salvaged during deconstruction rather than demolition, play a key role in reducing emissions, minimizing air pollution, and revitalizing communities. This is a subject that Kelley Lowe, director of salvage at Re:Purpose Savannah, is passionate about. In this interview from the Georgia Climate Digest video series, Eriqah Vincent of Drawdown Georgia talks with Kelley about her journey from studying Fine Arts to working in deconstruction and material reclamation. Kelley discusses the wide-ranging benefits of salvaging materials—environmental, cultural, and economic—and how individuals can support Re:Purpose Savannah’s mission and similar efforts in their own communities.
