In 2023, we proudly unveiled Laboratorio de los Sueños, a cutting-edge environmental classroom at the Isidoro School in El Rosario de Marinilla. This classroom, constructed entirely from recycled plastic waste, represents our fourth project of this kind and the second classroom delivered. It now serves over 40 students, offering a sustainable and engaging space for learning.
This initiative was made possible through our collaboration with the Planeta Verde cooperative and the Botellas de Amor foundation. Together, we collected 300 tons of recyclable plastic waste, repurposing much of it into the classroom structure and its furnishings. In addition to this, we provided 47 school kits and established a fully equipped library, further demonstrating our dedication to education and sustainability.
“We’re proud to improve learning environments in El Rosario de Marinilla, combining environmental, economic, and social contributions to enrich lives,” said Zayda Martínez, general manager of Griffith Foods for the Andean Region.
This achievement stems from Griffith Foods Colombia’s Súmate initiative, an internal program launched in 2019 to promote effective waste management. Through this program, 600 tons of waste have been collected to date. The materials are processed with partners and transformed into plastic wood, which is then used to create functional items for educational institutions, such as classrooms, desks, and other essential resources.
