KeyBank Foundation Grants $300,000 to New Reach for Hunger Relief Program
New Reach, Inc., based in New Haven, has been awarded a $300,000 Community Impact Grant from the KeyBank Foundation to support the FISH hunger relief initiative. This grant, distributed over three years, will bolster the FISH program, which provides nutritious groceries to homebound residents in Greater New Haven, including those with age-related or health-based mobility challenges.

In 2023, FISH joined New Reach, a prominent agency addressing homelessness, becoming the sole resource in the region devoted exclusively to food security for residents unable to access traditional food pantries. KeyBank’s funding will support essential operational and personnel costs for FISH, while enabling leadership to seek sustainable solutions to enhance the program’s long-term impact.

"We are deeply grateful to KeyBank for their generous support of FISH, our food security initiative,” said Kellyann Day, CEO of New Reach. “Their contribution not only ensures access to vital resources for our community members but also strengthens our commitment to ending hunger locally. This donation will have a lasting impact, and we are sincerely thankful for KeyBank’s dedication to positive change."

With a mission to make homelessness and hunger rare and brief, New Reach has been a pioneering force in Connecticut for 34 years, serving over 5,000 individuals annually in Greater New Haven and Fairfield County. Through prevention, crisis, and housing programs, the agency provides a wide range of services to people in need. The integration of FISH into New Reach has allowed FISH, a New Haven institution for over 55 years, to benefit from New Reach’s administrative, quality, and fundraising capabilities. FISH currently serves over 1,200 people from more than 800 households monthly, including seniors and young children.

KeyBank Market President Matthew Hummel emphasized the Foundation's commitment: “KeyBank Foundation is focused on partnering with organizations that create safe, healthy, and inclusive communities. We share New Reach’s vision of providing affordable housing, nutritious food, and essential services to support healthy, self-sufficient lives.”

The KeyBank Foundation grants are part of a $40 billion pledge to provide loans, investments, and philanthropic support in Key’s national service areas, established in 2017. This initiative supports affordable housing, community development, small business loans, and philanthropic efforts focused on education, workforce training, and neighborhood vitality.
