Sysco Expands Electric Truck Fleet in Canada to Reduce Emissions

09/26/2024

Sysco Corporation, the largest food distributor globally, marked a significant milestone with the addition of 8 heavy-duty electric tractors to their Victoria fleet, which services over 1,500 customers, including those in the restaurant, healthcare, and education sectors. This brings Sysco’s total number of heavy-duty electric tractors to more than 130 across the U.S., Canada, U.K., and Sweden.

"We are thrilled to expand our electric truck fleet into Canada, advancing our efforts to meet our climate goal of reducing emissions across the business," said Neil Russell, Sysco's Chief Administrative Officer. "Electrifying part of our fleet is a key element of this goal, and our collaboration with the Government of Canada, the Government of British Columbia, and BC Hydro is crucial in helping us succeed. These electric tractors emit no tailpipe emissions, which benefits the environment and aligns with our customers' expectations for working with a responsible distributor."

Sysco Canada celebrated this achievement during National Trucking Week at its Victoria distribution center, hosting leadership, employees, government representatives, and vendor partners.
