The 2024 Sands Cares Global Hygiene Kit Build marked a significant milestone in Sands’ decade-long collaboration with Clean the World and its partner nonprofit, The WASH Foundation. During this initiative, Team Members assembled 70,000 hygiene kits for individuals in need across Sands’ operating regions, pushing the total number of kits created since 2014 past the 1 million mark.
Marina Bay Sands Team Members achieved this milestone on October 2, assembling 30,000 hygiene kits with over 600 participants. The kits, which included shower essentials, dental care items, and messages of encouragement, were distributed through Children International in the Philippines and the Singapore Red Cross.
“This year, we celebrated two incredible achievements—our 10th annual kit build with Clean the World and the production of our one-millionth hygiene kit,” said Ron Reese, senior vice president of global communications and corporate affairs, who oversees corporate responsibility initiatives. “Most importantly, we celebrate the dedication of our Team Members, whose enthusiasm and generosity have turned this initiative into a cherished annual tradition.”
Sands China hosted its kit build later in October, where 350 Team Members and community volunteers assembled 30,000 kits in just three hours. These kits were distributed to 15 organizations in Macao, Hong Kong, and the Philippines, supporting those affected by hardships, natural disasters, and crises.
The series concluded at corporate headquarters in early November, where Team Members worked over three days to assemble 10,000 kits. These were distributed via Clean the World’s Fresh Start Mobile Hygiene Unit, which provides free showers to the homeless, as well as through organizations like Project 150, The Shade Tree, U.S. Vets, and the Nevada Partnership for Homeless Youth.
Reflecting on the initiative’s impact, Shawn Seipler, founder and CEO of Clean the World Global, remarked, “The cumulative results of the Sands Cares Global Hygiene Kit Build over the past decade are truly inspiring. Thanks to Sands’ unwavering commitment and the dedication of its Team Members, we have distributed over one million hygiene kits to individuals and families in need. Their contributions have profoundly impacted countless lives.”
The annual kit build is a cornerstone of Sands’ partnership with Clean the World and The WASH Foundation, addressing global challenges in hygiene and disaster recovery. Since 2014, Sands has contributed over $5.6 million through Sands Cares to support water, sanitation, and hygiene initiatives.
This effort is part of a broader suite of global programs under Sands Cares, including the Global Food Kit Build and the Sands Cares Accelerator, which empower nonprofit organizations to maximize their community impact. Together, these initiatives demonstrate Sands’ commitment to enhancing the well-being of its local communities and ensuring they remain vibrant places to live, work, and visit.
