KuCoin's Menstrual Equity Project Supports 4,000 Women in the Bahamas

01/02/2025

On December 31, 2024, the "Menstrual Equity Project," a collaborative effort by KuCoin, the Global CSR Foundation, and the American Medical Women's Association (AMWA), reached another milestone. The second shipment of aid supplies has been successfully delivered to the Bahamas, providing much-needed sanitary products to 4,000 women, thereby enhancing their quality of life.

The initiative focuses on delivering sustainable menstrual hygiene solutions to underserved women and girls, aligning with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). AMWA, as the oldest multi-specialty medical organization dedicated to advancing women in medicine and improving women's health, shares a mission closely aligned with KuCoin's dedication to corporate social responsibility.

With the backing of Her Excellency Ann Marie Davis, First Lady of the Commonwealth of the Bahamas, the latest shipment primarily included disposable menstrual pads. This choice addresses local challenges, such as water scarcity and the high cost of washing, while also ensuring access to essential supplies during natural disasters like hurricanes and typhoons.

KuCoin has been actively engaging in social welfare initiatives since its commitment during the "KuCoin Green Future Gala" at the 28th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP28) in 2023. The "Menstrual Equity Project" has become a cornerstone of this pledge.

In March 2024, the project launched its first phase, distributing 1,000 menstrual kits—each containing 10 sanitary pads and 2 menstrual cups—to communities in Suriname, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, and domestic violence shelters in New York and California.

The successful delivery of the second phase to the Bahamas will benefit an additional 4,000 women. Jing Zhao Cesarone, President of the Global CSR Foundation, praised KuCoin's efforts, stating: "KuCoin has set an inspiring example in tackling period poverty in underserved regions, showcasing its dedication to social responsibility."

Nancy Cheung, KuCoin’s Chief Sustainability Officer (CSO), reiterated the company’s commitment to advancing the UN's SDGs. She stated: "As a global leader in the digital economy, KuCoin remains focused on addressing key challenges such as climate change, health, and education. We aim to expand the 'Menstrual Equity Project,' partnering with more global organizations to improve women’s lives and contribute to sustainable development worldwide."
