Recovery Efforts and Network Updates Following Hurricane Milton in Florida

10/15/2024

Hurricane Milton made landfall in Florida overnight, prompting T-Mobile teams to mobilize swiftly to assist with recovery efforts.

Network Update
The extensive preparations we undertook for our network prior to the storm positioned us favorably for today's challenges. While our network has generally performed well, the intensity of the storm has led to service disruptions in several areas, including Tampa, Jacksonville, Miami, and Orlando. Customers in these regions may experience service issues.

Our focus is on rapid recovery. Crews will be assessing damage and initiating repairs where feasible. However, they will face extremely challenging conditions, including downed power lines, fallen trees, flooding, and other hazards, prioritizing safety as they work.

In addition to the storm damage, power outages are complicating the situation at our network sites. We currently have approximately 400 fixed generators operational in affected areas, with plans to deploy portable generators when possible. We are also preparing to roll out Cell on Wheels (COWs) and Cell on Light Trucks (COLTs) as needed.

Concessions Update
While most of our customers are on unlimited talk, text, and data plans, we are providing unlimited talk, text, and data for T-Mobile, Metro by T-Mobile, and Assurance Wireless customers from October 9 to November 11 in the following counties: Brevard, Charlotte, Citrus, Collier, DeSoto, Flagler, Hardee, Hendry, Hernando, Highlands, Hillsborough, Indian River, Lake, Lee, Manatee, Marion, Okeechobee, Pasco, Pinellas, Polk, Putnam, St. Lucie, Sarasota, and Volusia.

Additional Information
Our community support teams are now active in Gainesville, deploying Wi-Fi trucks and trailers stocked with supplies such as batteries and charging cables. They are aiding local temporary shelters and will move to other areas as required.

Stores and Customer Experience Centers in the affected regions will remain closed, though stores in Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach counties have reopened. For the latest updates on store operations, please consult our store locator.

We are also committed to supporting our employees who have been affected by the storm.
