Fifth Third Supports Small Businesses with $5,300 Grants & Holiday Campaign
Small businesses throughout Fifth Third's 11-state region will receive extra support this holiday season. From now until December 1, Fifth Third employees can nominate their favorite local small business for a chance to win one of five $5,300 microgrants through a sweepstakes.

"At Fifth Third, we recognize that small, local businesses are the backbone of our communities—where we live, work, and play. When they thrive, we all thrive," said Melissa Stevens, Fifth Third’s Chief Marketing Officer. "Our employees are eager to show these businesses some extra appreciation this holiday season, and we encourage community members to join us in supporting small businesses."

From now through December 1, Fifth Third employees will also be leaving $53 tips for workers at their favorite small businesses as part of a random act of kindness leading up to Small Business Saturday.

During November, employees are encouraged to visit nearby small businesses, exchange Fifth Third pens, take photos, and share their experiences on social media to enter the businesses into the sweepstakes. Entries can be viewed on Fifth Third’s Instagram or LinkedIn, using the hashtag #love53. All Fifth Third employees in regions with retail branches can participate.

"As a company of over 19,000 employees, we have a meaningful impact on the vitality of the communities we serve, both as an organization and as individuals," Stevens said. "Our small businesses make life a Fifth Third Better, and we’re proud to continue supporting them in this special way."

For this second annual "Swap, Snap, Share" campaign, Fifth Third defines small businesses as those with 100 or fewer employees and less than $1 million in annual revenue. The businesses must be locally owned, operating within their community, and providing goods or services locally. After the sweepstakes entry period, five winners will be randomly selected to receive $5,300 grants, with notifications sent in early December.

Fifth Third serves over 320,000 small business clients across the U.S., with a strong commitment to community and economic development through lending, investments, and technical assistance. The bank also focuses on nurturing small businesses through initiatives like the Neighborhood Investment Program, which works to implement place-based strategies in nine historically underserved neighborhoods, and the recently launched Small Business Catalyst Fund.
