Top 2025 Cocktail Trends: Bacardi Report on Spirits & Mixology"

11/21/2024

Bacardi Limited, the world’s largest privately owned spirits company, has unveiled its sixth annual Bacardi Cocktail Trends Report, spotlighting five major trends set to redefine cocktail culture and the spirits industry in 2025. Developed in partnership with The Future Laboratory (TFL), the report integrates insights from Bacardi’s internal and external research, consumer surveys, bartender interviews, and TFL expertise to highlight evolving influences on cocktail flavors, experiences, and cultural dynamics. It also predicts the cocktails that will dominate in the year ahead.

“As we approach 2025, consumers are reshaping how they connect, using cocktails as a gateway to new experiences, fresh perspectives, and stronger relationships,” said Mahesh Madhavan, CEO of Bacardi Limited. “At Bacardi, we’re embracing this shift from simple consumption to curating meaningful experiences shared over cocktails. Our mission is to champion this cultural evolution and transform moments into cherished memories.”

Martin Raymond, Co-Founder of The Future Laboratory, added, “Consumers are transitioning from being mere buyers of products to curators and collectors of experiences. This change is paving the way for long-term premiumization, where brands will thrive by creating meaningful interactions that add value across the customer journey.”

Key Trends Shaping the Spirits Industry in 2025
  1. Premium Fans
Fans are redefining premium entertainment, prioritizing luxury in unexpected ways. From curated travel packages to exclusive cocktail offerings at events like Formula 1 weekends or concerts, consumers are willing to invest in high-end, immersive experiences. For instance, the GREY GOOSE® Honey Deuce cocktail generated $12.4 million in sales during the US Open, highlighting the synergy between premium spirits and live entertainment.
  2. In-The-Know Imbibing
Cocktail culture is moving beyond spectacle toward deeper, more knowledgeable experiences. Consumers are drawn to expert-led spaces where mixologists play pivotal roles as educators and creators. Human connection remains a priority, with 62% of Italian, 60% of French, and 56% of US respondents expressing concern that AI-crafted drinks lack the emotional and artistic touch bartenders bring.
  3. New Cocktail Frontiers
As people seek richer, multi-sensory experiences, cocktail culture is entering a new phase of innovation. Immersive venues that prioritize sensory engagement are gaining traction, particularly for early evening gatherings. This trend reflects a desire for meaningful interactions, with many respondents opting for fewer nightclub visits in favor of unique, interactive experiences.
  4. Culinary Connoisseurs
The intersection of food and drink is becoming more pronounced, as mixologists draw inspiration from culinary techniques and ingredients. According to Bacardi’s Global Brand Ambassador Survey, 71% of bartenders incorporate kitchen staples like milk, oil, and brine into their creations. Savory and herbaceous flavor profiles, which saw growth of 20% and 15% respectively, are reshaping cocktail menus.
  5. The Future Spirit
The industry is embracing inclusivity, innovation, and community-building. By supporting initiatives that elevate the hospitality sector, brands are fostering deeper connections with consumers. The Bacardi Global Brand Ambassador Survey found that 62% of respondents globally seek more networking opportunities, signaling a shift toward collective growth and purposeful collaboration.
