In western North Carolina, numerous teams are actively engaged in restoring power to the areas most affected by Hurricane Helene. Meanwhile, Duke Energy staff across the Carolinas are also contributing in various other ways.
In Raleigh, over 200 Duke Energy employees participated in the Rally for Relief event, assembling 1,000 first aid kits, 50,000 diapers, and 10,000 hygiene products for emergency supply kits. In Charlotte, employees prepared 10,000 emergency food boxes for those in the hardest-hit regions. A week later, they transformed an uptown block into a sorting hub for the Harvest Hustle, where they organized and packaged over 40,000 pounds of apples.
In Upstate South Carolina, employees volunteered their time at a telethon, raising nearly $200,000 for relief efforts. As families in the mountainous regions of North Carolina work on rebuilding their lives, we continue to seek ways to provide comfort while restoring power to all affected communities.
We extend our gratitude to our partners who support these initiatives: American Red Cross North Carolina, American Red Cross of South Carolina, Charlotte Center City Partners, Diaper Bank of North Carolina, Inter-Faith Food Shuttle, MANNA FoodBank in Asheville, Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina, The No Woman, No Girl Initiative, United Way of the Greater Triangle, and WYFF 4.
